Emo, or Ioma, in Co Laois, is a village of 245 people that grew up around the gates of Emo Court, the neoclassical mansion of the Earls of Portarlington, built in 1790.

Amenities:

There is a national school in the village, with a choice of secondary schools in the bigger towns of Portlaoise, Portarlington and Monasterevin. Emo has a GAA club and post office and the Heath Golf Club is nearby. The beautiful gardens and house of Emo Court are close by.
