Emo, or Ioma, in Co Laois, is a village of 245 people that grew up around the gates of Emo Court, the neoclassic­al mansion of the Earls of Portarling­ton, built in 1790.

Amenities:

There is a national school in the village, with a choice of secondary schools in the bigger towns of Portlaoise, Portarling­ton and Monasterev­in. Emo has a GAA club and post office and the Heath Golf Club is nearby. The beautiful gardens and house of Emo Court are close by.
