New contractor to be appointed to Dame Street plaza job

A new contractor has been appointed to the Central Bank plaza in Dublin’s Dame Street.

Construction company John Paul is currently removing its scaffolding and hoarding from the site. A new specialist contractor is expected to come on site soon, it is understood. It was unclear if this would require a new tendering process. John Paul was appointed under a management contract by international real estate firm Hines earlier this year. Such contracts have a degree of flexibility that allow for change during a project, it is understood. Hines and Hong Kong based Peterson Group concluded the acquisition of the former Central Bank buildings after the bank vacated the building in March,

“A first-stage management contractor (John Paul) was appointed to undertake the initial works which included a full strip out of the outdated mechanical and electrical fixtures and worn out fixtures and fittings throughout the 11-storey building,” said a spokesman for Hines Real Estate Ireland. “That work also included the procurement of all the key works packages for Hines. The first strip-out stage of the project has reached its conclusion and all the key packages of work are ready to start. A new specialist contractor has been appointed for the next stage and they will bring their own scaffolding and hoists to site in the coming weeks and erect a different hoarding to facilitate their operations which is why the scaffolding has altered on site within the past week.”
