Fancy a sleek and chic hairstyle for the party season? Think David Koma’s autumn/winter 2017 show, and the side-parted, straight locks the models wore, with a thin French braid on one side. Slay! If you’re prone to frizz, you need this L’Oreal Paris Limited Edition Steampod 2.0 Midnight in Paris, above, €185, Peter Mark. Maybe put it on your Christmas wish list, as it’s the gift that keeps on giving you luscious locks. Remember when girls used to iron their hair, back in the day? Well, this pays homage to that — but in a much more effective and safe way. The straightener has a built-in water container that supplies the steam to aid the straightening. So, how do you actually achieve this do? To start: fix your parting off to the side, before picking up your straightener. You’ll also want to apply a heat protector beforehand, such as L’Oréal Paris Elnett Sleek Heat Protect Spray, right, €7.19, or a refining product like Steampod’s Replenishing Smoothing Cream, €19.45, to maximise softness. Then section the hair and straighten the entire head. To create the braid, pull some hair from one side and divide it into three strands. Cross them over as if creating a regular plait, but add extra hair to each strand as you go, working to create a nice French braid on the scalp, until you reach behind the ear. Plait the remaining bit as normal, no longer adding extra strands of hair, and tie off. Finish with a shine spray, such as Platinum Leave-in Shine Spray, €16.99.
