Enya enjoys the taste of the (inter) continental

-

She is the Greta Garbo of the Irish music industry — rarely seen, but never less than brilliant. I am talking, of course, of Enya, the Gweedore goddess/genius and all round Donegal divine being, who lives in a mansion high up in the Killiney hills... who sold trillions upon trillions of records worldwide with her sublime masterpiece Orinoco Flow in 1988 from her equally masterful Watermark album.

For the record, if you pardon the pun, I reviewed the album upon its release almost 30 years ago for New Musical Express in London and Enya and her manager Nicky Ryan presumably liked the review so much that they used part of it for ads in the United Kingdom.

My Deep Throats spotted her in the Intercontinental in Ballsbridge having lunch in the swish lounge area of the five-star hotel with her manager, the aforesaid Nicky Ryan, the week before last. I’m told that the herbal tea was flowing a la Orinoco. I’m also told that the blessed Enya is, in fact, a regular enjoyer of lunch in the Intercontinental — once a month at least. Her driver parks the big Maybach outside the hotel. Talk about leaving your (water)mark.

Still in the Intercontinental, Rita Farrell spent the Yuletide in the hotel with her movie star producer husband Joel B Michaels. Joel (who produced Terminator 3 in 2003) and Rita (who produced Colin Farrell on May 31, 1976!) married in 2013 in Colin’s mansion in Los Angeles.
