Dingle all the way for Miriam

-

When she is living in the Aras an Uachtarain, perhaps, Miriam O’Callaghan won’t be able to get away for New Year’s Eve?

Maybe she should ask Michael and Sabina for advice in advance? Last year, however, the RTE superwoman was able to trek to her beloved Kerry to ring in the New Year with husband Steve and their brood.

They stayed at The Skellig and went to the centre of Dingle at midnight to enjoy the craic with crowds of locals. Miriam et al also had a prime time that night in O’Flaherty’s pub. And why not? Sure, the star of Montrose is entitled to let her gorg gruaige down once in a while, before she gets her feet under the table at the Aras.

Former TV star, turned events guru Lorraine Keane, rang in the New Year in the West, in Tawnyinlough, Leenane, Co Galway. “It was with close friends,” Lorraine told me. “Eight families in Delphi Lodge Country House. We took over the place.”

Star of the big screen — A View to a Kill and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, among them — Alison Doody, meanwhile, was spotted looking ultra-glam outside Patrick Guilbaud’s restaurant on Upper Merrion Street over Christmas with a group of friends. Alison’s daughter, Alanna, a successful make-up artist in Los Angeles, was back from LA for Christmas. She stayed with her mum at her home in Donnybrook over the break.

Alanna, who is the image of her movie-star mum, was sighted shopping in Brown Thomas on Grafton Street over the Christmas break rocking a Gucci belt and skinny jeans.
