Fionn takes on ‘Innocent’ role

- Niamh Horan

ONE of Ireland’s rising stars will feature in a new crime drama on TV3 tomorrow night (9pm).

Fresh from his role in last year’s The Siege of Jadotville, Fionn O’Shea stars in Innocent, a story of love, lust, jealousy and betrayal.

The story begins after David Collins’s seven years in a high security prison when his conviction for the murder of his wife is overturned. He can now start his life again, repair his relationships with family and friends, see his children, and finally mourn for his wife, Tara. Or so he hopes.

Fionn says the four-part crime drama, which will be shown over four consecutive nights, will be “full of suspense and twists” and, he says, “an ending that hopefully no one will see coming”.

Speaking to the Sunday Independent this weekend he said: “I feel really lucky to be doing something I love as a job and I’ve had so many great working experiences. A lot of my closest friends I’ve met through my work.

“The most difficult part is probably letting go of a role and going back to normal life after a shoot.”

One lesson that is taking Fionn time to learn is to take his career day at a time.

“I’ve learned not to get too attached to a project or role until you’re on set because things fall through or don’t work out, so nothing is ever a certainty until it’s been made. I’m probably still learning that though.”

Later this year Fionn is set to take a leading role in The Aftermath with Keira Knightley and Alexander Skarsgard.
