The Loves of my LIFE

A beauty obsessive on her stylish life

-

“It’s supposed to be hard. As an entrepreneur, this statement gets me through the day”

The person

My grandmother — she is 90 this year and she has a better social life than I do. When she was my age, she had four kids.

The memory

My friends and I were lucky enough to spend a couple of summer holidays at a family friend’s villa in Cannes. We had a blast — I spent my 25th birthday at the InterContinental Carlton, but then we had to go to McDonald’s for a burger afterwards as we couldn’t afford to have dinner at the hotel.

The moment of the day

Waking up naturally before the alarm goes off. It doesn’t happen often enough, though.

The song

Flawless by Beyonce.

The movie

Mean Girls. “Gretchen, Stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen.” Our company credo — which is lost on most — is #makingfetchhappen, which is a nod to the determination and resilience it takes to create something from scratch, especially as a woman. “Wearing sun protection every day is the single best thing you can do for your skin”

The hero

Michelle Obama — “Success is only meaningful and enjoyable if it feels like your own.”

The book

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. I felt a sense of loss when I — eventually — finished it.

The outfit

For daytime, Burberry or Gucci separates. If I’m not meeting anyone, I stick to activewear — because I can! For dressing up, I always opt for colour, print, or both.

The accessory

A Fendi Petite 2Jours bag in black with multi-coloured studs… that’s the dream, anyway.

The gadget

My MacBook.

The pet hate

Tight people and loud chewers.

The drink

Amarone red wine, or a Lychee Martini.

The bar

Kehoe’s on South Anne Street in Dublin.

The friend

I have a really close group of friends from when I worked at Arnotts 10 years ago. We talk every day, and I would be lost without them.

The beauty product

Sun protection. Wearing it every day is the single best thing you can do for your skin.

The holiday

The Aman in Tokyo. The design elements are exquisite. It’s one of those places that can’t be appreciated in a photograph.

The piece of advice

It’s supposed to be hard. As an entrepreneur, this statement gets me through the day.

The hobby

Talking about skincare; buying skincare; applying skincare.

The part of my body My skin. The holiday

Ibiza, or Bali if there’s time — it’s very far.

The celebrity

Joanna Lumley. I’d say she has some stories to tell.

The virtue

Generosity. Being generous with your time, whether that’s with friendships or in a professional capacity, will always be worthwhile.

The vice

Netflix and Cadbury’s Giant Buttons.

The smell

Tuberose. It’s a polarising scent, but I’m drawn to it.

The taste

Any Italian food.
