J Lo’s canny proposal

While ordinary women might struggle to come up with novel ways to hint they should be proposed to, Jennifer Lopez has no such issues. Not for her the manipulation of getting pregnant or complaining after the fact, a la Beyonce, that a ring should have been put on it. No, J Lo has dropped a hint, through the medium of song, that it’s high time baseball icon and Madonna ex Alex Rodriguez went down on one knee.

The lyrics to her new song, El Anillo (the ring) translate as “your wild side drives me crazy/You’ve given me so much that I’ve been thinking/I already have it all, but/When will I get the ring?”

Rodriguez must be thinking he might have been better off with Taylor Swift, who at least waits until she’s broken up with someone before putting them into a hit — but we have to give J Lo points for ingenuity — and bluntness.

“When will I get the ring” doesn’t require much in the way of interpretation. Your move A Rod.
