Pushing past boundaries
Our boundaries, real or imagined, stop us from becoming our best selves. We all hold ourselves back because we are afraid of being judged by others, and afraid to fail. So we settle — we settle for mediocrity and fall in line, afraid to stand out and afraid to shine. When we decide to push our boundaries, it can feel really uncomfortable, leading us to think, “Well, if this was a good thing, surely I should feel calm and comfortable?”Wrong: pushing past boundaries can be very uncomfortable, as you are being tested, and now you are officially outside your personal comfort zone. The thing to remember is that we are all capable of much more than we think. Often, we compare ourselves to other people, thinking they have some superhuman qualities that we are missing. But the ingredients of hard work, passion and determination are all there: you just need to add them together in a big mixing bowl and get to work for the magic to start happening. So why not get out of your own way and at least try. As I always say, what’s the worst that can happen?
