in the radio industry have been few and far between over the last decade in stark comparison to land grab for the airwaves in the noughties. But the media business has become more challenged since then and investors are much more coy about the medium. However, I hear that Ocean FM, which has performed strongly in the north west, will see some changes to its share register in the not too distant future.

Local businessman Martin Reilly, who owns the BMW and Hyundai franchises for the region, has been a long-time investor in the station and I believe that he may buy out a number of shareholders in the near future. He owns just under 15pc of the station.

No word yet as to who will exit but the share register includes well-known sports personalities Packie Bonner and Eamonn O’Hara.

For Reilly, owning more of the business makes sense. His car dealership advertises heavily on radio and no doubt the people of Sligo, Donegal and Leitrim can look forward to plenty more Beamer ads in the future.
