Long waits for child psychology service

More than 1,600 children and young people have been waiting for a primary care psychology appointmen­t for more than a year.

The total number of children on waiting lists for psychology appointmen­ts at the end of August was 6,340, according to HSE figures released to Fianna Fail mental health spokesman James Browne.

Mr Browne said: “Early interventi­on is critical when dealing with susceptibl­e children and teenagers.”
