Long waits for child psychology service

More than 1,600 children and young people have been waiting for a primary care psychology appointment for more than a year.

The total number of children on waiting lists for psychology appointments at the end of August was 6,340, according to HSE figures released to Fianna Fail mental health spokesman James Browne.

Mr Browne said: “Early intervention is critical when dealing with susceptible children and teenagers.”
