Brexiteer Boris heads to Dublin for speech at Pendulum Summit
FOR Irish Europhiles, Boris Johnson is public enemy number one.
But Britain’s former foreign secretary remains box office — even among his harshest critics — and there is sure to be a full house in Dublin’s Convention Centre when he arrives in Dublin next January to deliver a speech about self-empowerment and Brexit.
The controversial former London mayor will appear at the annual Pendulum Summit where he will outline Ireland’s opportunities in a postBrexit era.
The Tory politician and author of The Churchill Factor is described by event organisers as “one of the most captivating political speakers of his generation” and they are looking forward to him leading the charge at the two-day event.
He will be joined by a number of celebrity speakers and business leaders including Hollywood A-lister Colin Farrell who will speak at the event which deals with “selfempowerment, authentic relationships, leadership, team performance, business excellence and professional and wealth elevation”.
Farrell will give his thoughts on dreaming big and working hard — and learning to savour success when it comes. The actor will also share his take on the mental attitude needed to remain fulfilled in a changing world.
Also speaking will be mental health campaigner Ruby Wax, who will share her own personal story and provide steps to build mental resilience.
Joining the comedian is the international bestselling motivational speaker Nick Vujicic. Born without arms or legs, Vujicic is the founder of Attitude Is Altitude and Life Without Limbs and has devoted his life to rekindling hope and igniting positive change all around the world.
The world’s leading business coach, Dr Marshall Goldsmith, will also be on hand to offer an insight into his practical and proven methods.
Actor John Cleese and Baroness Karren Brady, businesswoman and CEO of West Ham United football club, will also be appearing to discuss their lives and careers, while Mandy Hickson — who is the UK’s first female fast-jet pilot — is another anticipated speaker.
A spokesperson for the Pendulum Summit said the event, which takes place on January 9 and 10, is for “Ireland’s top business leaders who are constantly looking for ways to cultivate their clients and keep their core teams engaged, motivated and growing in this era of hyper competition”.

Other names confirmed to speak include Leinster rugby coach and former head coach of the England rugby team, Stuart Lancaster, who will talk about ‘‘learning from failure and building resilience for long-term high performance’’.
