2FM’s Emma Power

The radio presenter chats to Chloe Brennan about her favourite people, places and things

-

“I’m a glass-halffull kind of girl and negative people kind of grate on me” “You should treat others how you’d like to be treated. It takes more energy to be mean than to be nice”

The person

It’s got to be my mum, Bernie. She’s always there when I need her and I can trust her no matter what.

The memory

I’m a massive Disney fan, so our first family trip to Disney World in Florida. It’s my favourite place.

The moment of the day

Sitting down in front of the TV after a long day, with a cup of tea and a bar of chocolate.

The song

I always find this question so hard to answer. I’m a radio presenter, so I obviously love music and I have so many favourites, but if I had to pick one, it would have to be Do For Love by 2Pac.

The movie

I love the Bridget Jones trilogy. They’re such feelgood and funny movies, but if I had to pick one of them, it would definitely be the first film, Bridget Jones’s Diary.

The book

I read a book recently called The Good

Mothers by Alex Perry, which is about the women behind the Italian mafia. It was a great read — I love true stories.

The hero

My dad Paul. He’s one of the hardest working people I know, and he has instilled a strong work ethic in me.

The outfit

I absolutely love getting dressed up in a dress and heels at the weekends, but you’ll normally find me in jeans, a jumper and runners. You can’t beat comfort.

The accessory

My Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag. I wanted one for years, so I saved up vouchers and money I got for birthdays and Christmases to buy it.

The gadget

My Samsung S8. I can’t go anywhere without it.

The pet hate

Negativity. I’m a glass-half-full kind of girl, and negative people grate on me.

The friend

I’ve got an amazing group of friends. My best friend Karen is getting married next year and I am her bridesmaid, so I’m very excited about that. We’ve been friends since we were teenagers.

The holiday

My sixth-year holiday in Crete. It was our first taste of proper freedom and we made memories we’ll never forget.

The hotel

The Marriot Hotel in Surfers Paradise in Australia. I’ve never actually stayed in it, but when I was on my working-holiday visa there, we used to sneak in and spend some time there! It has a salt-water lagoon, with tropical fish and a lazy river!

The beauty product

My Great Lengths hair extensions. My hair is very thin and fine and I love how much thicker they make my hair feel. They’re so natural and easy to manage, too!

The piece of advice

What’s meant for you won’t pass you. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.

The drink

Vodka and slimline tonic, with lots of fresh lemon.

The bar

Oliveto at Haddington House in Dun Laoghaire. You can’t beat their beer garden on a summer’s day.

The hobby

I love cooking. I turned pescatarian back in January, so I’m enjoying experimenting with different vegetarian and fish recipes at the moment.

The part of my body

I’d probably have to say my legs.

The virtue

Kindness. You should always treat others how you’d like to be treated. It takes more energy to be mean than to be nice.

The vice

I’ve a serious sweet tooth, so definitely chocolate and sweets. I have to have something sweet every day.

The smell

Black Orchid by Tom Ford. It reminds me of the Hotel New York, where I stayed in Disneyland Paris.

The taste

Strawberries and meringue with fresh cream. Delicious!

The vice I’ve a serious sweet tooth.
