THE SIGNS OF SEPSIS

-

RECOGNISING the symptoms of sepsis as early as possible saves lives. In its early stages, sepsis can look like common flu — tiredness, aching muscles, fever and a feeling of weakness.

Tell your nurse or doctor that you are concerned about sepsis. Do not delay, as every hour is critical to survival.

As it develops, you can recognise symptoms by spelling out the word SEPSIS: S — Slurred speech or confusion; E — Extreme shivering/muscle pain; P — Passing no urine (in a day); S — Severe breathlessness; I — It feels like you are going to die; S — Skin mottled/discoloured.
