Jay opens latest venture on South William Street
Colourful — and I’m not just talking about his ginger hair — entrepreneur Jay Bourke opened his latest venture, Bart’s, at 7 South William Street, last Thursday night.
The event attracted quite a crowd, from Jay himself, his novelist wife Sarah Harte, actress/singer Maria Doyle Kennedy (with musician husband Kieran), Oscar-winning actor Benjamin Cleary, to chef Kevin Thornton, to art devotee Sarah Owens and charismatic businessman John McKeon.
On the subject of the aforementioned colour, John McKeon did once, many, many moons ago, famously give the keys of his Ferrari 355 to a hotel porter who promptly crashed it into a lamp post on St Stephen’s Green. Those were the days.
I can’t vouch as to whether John, who arrived with the ever lovely Sarah Owens, travelled to Bart’s by Ferrari. But I can confirm that the food was definitely delish, not least because it was overseen by Matt Fuller, who trained at Michelin restaurants Peacock Alley, Guilbaud’s and L’Ecrivain.
I’ll be back for the nosh as, I’m sure, will half of hipster Dublin.
