Nissan does U-turn on UK car contract
Japanese carmaker Nissan is cancelling plans to make the next model of its X-Trail car in Britain, less than two months before the country is due to leave the EU,
Just four months after June 2016, when the UK voted to leave the EU, Nissan said it would manufacture a new model of the SUV in Sunderland — an area which voted overwhelmingly to leave the EU.
Back then Nissan’s stand — which came after Theresa May’s government gave Nissan assurances over Brexit — was seen as a major vote of confidence in the UK.
