Brexit no-ships company will not set sail
British transport minister Chris Grayling faced calls to resign this weekend after a the cancellation of a controversial no-deal Brexit ferry contract — which was awarded to a firm with no ships at all.
The UK’s decision to award Seaborne Freight a contract worth €15.8m to run services between Ramsgate and Ostend had attracted widespread criticism.
This weekend it was decided to terminate the contract after Arklow Shipping, an Irish company which had backed Seaborne Freight, stepped away from the deal.
