Warren declares for White House run

US Democratic senator Elizabeth Warren has made her bid for the US presidency official. Speaking in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Ms Warren grounded her 2020 campaign in a populist call to fight economic inequality and build “an America that works for everyone”.

Warren’s entry into the race comes weeks after she apologised for claiming Cherokee Nation identity on multiple occasions early in her career. It’s a claim that’s could overshadow her campaign for the White House.
