Triona’s top trends

I just love lipstick. It is definitely one of life’s greatest joys. Now, I know you don’t need a lesson in how to apply lipstick, but I do have a few tips and product picks. Start by applying your favourite lip balm to prep your lips. The Andrea Garland Art Deco compact, above, from €20 — with a refill service available, see andreagarland.co.uk — is adorable, isn’t it? I pop some on while I’m applying my base so it has time to sink in, and then I blot any excess with a tissue. Armani Luminous Silk Hydrating Primer, €47, is my favourite, especially over my lips, as it grabs on to my lipstick but still looks, well, luminous. To make your lips look bigger, choose either the top or bottom lip, and overdraw it with a pencil that perfectly matches your lipstick. If you want to make your lips look more pouty, use a slightly lighter lipstick on the centre of your lips. I also like to dot on a gloss like Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath, €32, in Refresh Rose. Just apply a little to the middle of your lips, then press them together — that way, you’ll avoid getting gloop on the edges. My favourite red lipstick at the moment is Dior Limited Edition Rouge Lipstick, below, €39, in Colour 999, which is the perfect red. Nude-wise, if you loved Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk lipstick, then you need to try the shimmering Diamonds version for nights out. Or you could try YSL Pur Couture The Slim Sheer Matte, €35.50 in Pure Nude — it feels and looks so sophisticated. Kiss, kiss!
