Siobhan jets back for some quality family time

-

■ Next Friday, Miss Ireland 1990 Siobhan McClafferty is jetting in from her home in Florida to see her mother and family (sisters Jackie, Martina and Karen and brother John) with her 19-year-old daughter Lauren.

“Lauren is living on campus in college in America,” Siobhan told me, “so I’m really looking forward to that quality mum-and-daughter time with her and especially in Ireland.”

The Portmarnock girl married Julian O’Sullivan, who works for a big American company, in 2015, before moving to the US with Lauren — her child by a previous relationship — and their dog, two cats and Lauren’s horse.

“We spent two years in Chicago, two years in Austin in Texas before we moved to Naples, Florida,” she says.

“Life here is great,

waking up in the morning and going straight into our swimming pool before having breakfast outside, never gets old. The amazing sunsets in the evening where everyone meets at the beach… relaxed lifestyle, no stress… I just love it.”

Meanwhile, the Westbury Hotel was in bloom last Tuesday night for the launch of Blathanna: Irish

Spaces in Flower, the “book baby” of Appassionata’s Ruth Monahan and

Ultan Devaney, and Kasia Skopinska.

Painter and Brown Thomas creative director John Redmond launched the creation, the ultimate Christmas art offering.

Those who attended included street artist

Maser, British Ambassador Robin Barnett and his wife Agnieszka, Paul and Barbara Wallace, and Pat King, head of the Doyle Collection.
