The Loves of my LIFE

Singer-songwriter RuthAnne

-

“Everyone’s journey is different and everyone has their time, so just trust that your time is coming”

The person

I would say my boyfriend, Ollie. He is my rock, my partner in crime, my lover, my best friend, and my constant.

The memory

The first time I saw Mariah Carey sing on

Top of the Pops, I was blown away. My jaw was on the floor, and I just was so happy. It started my obsession with music and singing.

The moment of the day

It would have to be my evening bath and bedtime; I love a nice bubble bath with candles. I put on my favourite music and take time chilling in the bath, away from my phone and the world, before getting into bed with a fluffy blanket and a hot-water bottle. “My dad Brian goes above and beyond in everything for us and is always there”

The song

It’s very difficult to choose! I have several songs that are the loves of my life, but I’ll go with my current favourite, Best Part by Daniel Caesar. It melts me every time; the lyrics remind me of pure, unconditional love for everyone I care for in my life. And for the whole song I feel relaxed, and can just fully be in the moment and present when I listen to it.

The movie The Holiday

has to be one of my all-time faves. As a hopeless romantic, it gets me every time, and it gives me the perfect Christmassy feeling. I watch it several times every Christmas.

The book

How To Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie has to be the best book ever written — I think it should be studied in schools. It teaches you how to deal with conflict, how to get to be genuine and make good, loyal relationships. It also teaches you how to be a leader and have amazing communication skills.

The person

My dad, Brian, is my hero. My dad suffers from PTSD due to an accident — which he survived — when I was a child. He has dealt with that trauma while still managing to be an amazing, brave father to all his daughters. He goes above and beyond in everything for us, and is always there. Anyone he encounters, loves him instantly.

The beauty product

Elemis Pro-Collagen Hydra-Gel Eye Mask. Because I work so much and don’t sleep much, these masks are a lifesaver, they instantly give my eyes a boost, and I look less tired instantly. I love all the Elemis Pro-Collagen range.

The outfit

I love a kimono or statement jacket with a black slip dress and some snakeskin boots, or statement boots of some sort. I like a little sparkle somewhere in there, too.

The accessory

I love chains. Gold or silver chains, and a black or gold bag to complete the look.

The gadget

I love my Beats by Dre headphones. They make the bass and beats slap, and I like to listen loud, so they are perfect for that.

The celebrity

Leonardo DiCaprio will always be my ultimate love. I love every movie he’s been in, and he’s not too bad to look at either!

The friend

My best friend Jenni — we’ve been besties since I was 11. We are like sisters; we’ve been through everything together. She’s one of very few who fully understands me and my ways. We’ve had a long-distance friendship for nine years now, and we’re still just we close as ever. We always have the most laughs together, and she’s always there for me, and is a true best friend in every way.

The pet hate

I may sound like a brat, but I hate queues. I’m impatient, so I hate slow customer service or long queues, just because I always have so much to do. I’m always running around trying to get everything done, and queues just slow it all down.

The holiday

Harbour Island, in the Bahamas. It has the most beautiful pink sandy beaches, and unbelievable food.

The hotel

Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire in the UK would have to be my favourite hotel. There are cabins on the lakes, outdoor tubs and rainforest showers, and every morning they deliver fresh milk, cheese and bread to your cabin. The beds are huge, and so comfortable. There are the fluffiest robes and slippers, and record players in your room. It’s a proper relaxing vibe there, and anytime I want to escape and have a break, I go there.

The advice

Trust the process, and don’t compare yourself to others. Everything happens when it’s meant to. You have to just work hard and put blinders on, and keep moving forward. Everyone’s journey is different, and everyone has their time, so just trust that your time is coming.
