PUPPY LOVE Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs Christmas Special, Virgin Media One, 6pm

The host returns once again to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, where he is eager to get back to work. This time he will be getting to know some of the dogs who are dealing with behavioura­l problems, such as mongrel Misty who refuses to leave her kennel, grumpy Yorkshire terrier Teddy who won’t walk and an American bulldog who has lost her mojo.

This fun new series for the whole family tells the story of siblings Susan and John, who arrive at Scatterbro­ok Farm to work as farmhands. They aren’t expecting much from the experience, which makes it all the more surprising when they encounter a scarecrow who can walk and talk. He wants to help them save the farm, which is experienci­ng a poor harvest. Now the new trio set out on an adventure, during which they encounter all sorts of friendly faces and wacky characters. But will they be able to save the farm?

A LOOK IN THE ARCHIVE Pat Shortt’s Music from D’Telly Christmas Special, RTE One, 6.25pm

The comedian is allowed back into the RTE archive to put together this festive special, made up of clips from the vault that aired on Christmas through the years. This includes performanc­es by Mary Black, Colm Willkinson, Sonny Knowles and many more.
