Sinead O’Carroll’s Sitges

-

Sitges is a place I really love to visit, and I try to get there every year if I can, even for a weekend break. The flight is short and easy — fly into Barcelona and Sitges is about half-an-hour away.

We stay in the 5-star Dolce Sitges hotel. It’s only five minutes from the centre of town, and it’s right on the beach.

We normally get to the hotel on Friday just in time to freshen up and hit the town for lunch. Sitges has the best seafood. I love La Marinada, it’s great for the kids, and has fabulous lobster and a great atmosphere. It has usually been an early start, so a long lunch and a stroll around the town is about the extent of it on Friday.

I love to wake up early on Saturday, and go for a walk, while the hubby and kids lie in. Then we’ll have a small breakfast at the hotel coffee bar, before chilling by the pool.

On our last trip, I was persuaded, over a lunch of oysters, to walk around some of the local museums, and I’m glad I did. They are gorgeous, and because Sitges is small, you can do everything in a few hours.

Dinner in the hotel is amazing, and the views are incredible. The resident hotel DJ is so good that you’re happy to stay put. Chilled-out tunes and a relaxed atmosphere — exactly what I look for when I go away.

Sunday morning, it’s up and grab a coffee before we head to the airport. I cannot recommend Sitges enough. It’s the perfect chill-out place. And the kids love it, too!
