Mirror, mirror on the wall

-

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? Instead of asking the mirror, start talking to the mirror and appreciating what is looking back at you. There is only one of you on this planet and, as cheesy as it sounds, you are precious, important, unique and worthy. Very often we want to hear this from others in the hope that we will one day start to believe it, but the truth is that the world will mirror back to you how you feel about yourself.

Taking the plunge into a real relationship with yourself takes time and courage. How many of us actually look at ourselves each day in the mirror and think: damn, you look good! No, instead we pick out imperfections and search for things that are not quite right, or that could be better. When you decide to ‘date yourself ’ and get to know yourself properly, you will begin to realise that not only are you worthy, but just like every other relationship you have in this life, there will be faults and things you don’t really like.

The thing is, it’s those perceived faults that makes us human, and it’s that human part of us all that’s looking for our love and affection. The good parts don’t feel as lost, lonely and abandoned because they’re the parts others comment on, and the parts of us that are easy to embrace and accept. No one is perfect and no one has it all, but when you ‘accept all of you’ in the here and now, there is a magical energy that expands within and then without. It’s that energy that changes your life into one of passion, purpose and freedom.
