The loves of my LIFE

MUA Tara Anderson

-

The person

My husband, Daniel. I would truly be lost without him. He is the best father to our son, Gene, and one of the funniest people I know. He is one of those people that is annoyingly good at everything too

— there is no end to his talents!

The memory

Giving birth to my baby, Gene. I felt truly alive in that moment. The feeling of pure elation when I held him for the first time is something that I will never forget.

The moment of the day

After I have put Gene down to bed and have had my dinner, I make a cup of tea and have a bar of chocolate. I’ll even light a candle if I think of it. It has become quite the ceremony. I enjoy every single sip!

The song

It Must be Love by Madness. We walked down the aisle to this song after getting married, as it’s a song that I feel was written for myself and Daniel. Anyone who knows me though, will know that if

Come on Eileen comes on when I’m out, I lose my mind with happiness! “If ‘Come on Eileen’ comes on when I’m out, I lose my mind with happiness!”

The movie

I love films like The Importance of Being

Earnest. It is probably my favorite play, so I enjoyed seeing it as a film.

The book

I have to admit that I haven’t made the time to read a book in quite a while. It’s definitely on my 2020 to-do list. I enjoy light reading that I can dip in and out of.

Feel the Fear And Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers is a book that I have picked up and read a few times.

The hero

I’m so blessed to have a lot of heroes in my life. My parents are my biggest heroes. Everything they have done, they have done for us. They have been the most important example of love to me — what it is, and how to show it — and I am eternally grateful to them for that.

The gadget

It has to be my phone. It’s so great that I can do so much of my work from my phone, but on the other hand, I love putting it away for a few hours. It’s a love/hate relationship.

The outfit

I feel happiest when I am in my PJs and my dressing gown. As much as I like getting dolled up, comfort is key for me.

The accessory

Daniel got the most beautiful ring of rubies and diamonds made for me as my wedding present. I never take it off. His best man, Johnny, came in with it on the morning of our wedding, and I was so overwhelmed. I absolutely love it.

The pet hate

Rudeness, I just can’t tolerate it.

If you are rude to me or any of my loved-ones, be in no doubt that I will let you know how I feel about it.

The part of my body

Since having a baby, my opinion on my body has dramatically changed. I don’t look at it and judge it like I did in the past. I am grateful for it, and for all that it has given me. “I have a picture hanging at the end of my bed that reads, ‘Do your own thing, be your own king’”

The friend

My mum — she is one in a million.

We are the best of friends and we tell each other everything. She is always there, with the kettle on, ready to listen!

The beauty product

This is not so much a product but more of a treatment. I get my lashes, nails and brows done once a month in Allure Spa & Beauty, and I feel like a new woman every time. I don’t wear much make-up during the week, but when I have these treatments done,

I feel great! The girls there are the best in the business. I have been going to them since 2011.

The holiday

A group of us go to Quinta do Lago in Portugal every year, and have ben going there since I was about eight.

It’s probably the one time of the year that we get proper quality time together as a family with everyone, and no distractions. Gene has been there for the past two years now, which has made it extra-special for me.

The hotel

We got married in Carton House in Co Kildare, so it will always have a special place in my heart. I love to go to The Westbury for a fancy cup of tea every now and then — it is probably my favourite hotel in Dublin.

The advice

I have a picture hanging at the end of my bed that reads, ‘Do your own thing, be your own king’. My dad is a great one for advice, and he always said that to me. I definitely think it is thanks to him that I am unapologetically myself and don’t try to be like anybody else.

The celebrity

I love Oprah, I have only recently discovered her SuperSoul Conversations podcast, and I also bought her book,

What I Know for Sure, which I am dying to read.
