Inspired coherent action

-

We all wake up and take action each day, but did you know there are two ways in which we take action? The first and most predominant way people take action is from a stressed space and place. Most of us don’t even realise we are approaching life this way because we have trained ourselves to live like this, and it feels like second nature. The problem with living this way is that your body is always in fight-or-flight mode, aka the stressed state. When we operate this way for long periods of time, we are on the path to burnout and dis-ease. Living this way can cause inflammation in our body, and then health issues like adrenal fatigue may show up. There is another way to approach life and, in turn, how we live each day. This second way switches us from a stressed state to a coherent and inspired place of action. When we are in a coherent state, we are in an active but aligned and non-stressed state. To bring yourself into a state of coherence, practice heart-focused breathing first thing in the morning for a minimum of five minutes. Simply bring your awareness to your heart area, breathe in and out through your heart, and cultivate a good feeling through gratitude. When we are in a state of coherence, our pre-frontal cortex turns back on. This brain region is considered to be the master of aligning thoughts and actions in accordance with internal goals. When you approach your goals and daily life with stress, this part of our brain shuts down and our amygdala fires up instead, which is the area of our brain responsible for emotions like fear, and for our emergency stress response. How you start your day is really important, so give your body and mind the best chance of living a less stressed life.
