Croke Park submits planning notice for 200-bed hotel
THE holding company behind Croke Park has posted a planning notice stating that it intends to apply for planning permission for a proposed 200-bed hotel on land it acquired from the Catholic Church.
Pairc an Chrocaigh Cuideachta FTR published the notice last week regarding the 0.51-hectare site. The hotel is set to be seven storeys, including a bar, restaurant and green roof, which will incorporate solar panels.
The hotel was first mooted earlier this year. It followed the acquisition of the entire 30-acre site at Clonliffe College by the GAA, which was reportedly bought for €95m in 2019. It is to be built off Clonliffe Road on lands which were formerly part of the Holy Cross College, a seminary.
Ergo understood the sale of the lands by the Archdiocese of Dublin required ultimate approval from the Vatican.
Irish building supplies company Kingspan found itself to be the victim of a fake website last week, with a parody site mysteriously appearing in recent days.
The creator of the site, who clearly has a leaning towards scatological humour, used the Kingspan lion branding and layout similar to the official Kingspan website to make several negative comments about the company. However, by Friday afternoon the site appeared no longer to be in operation with users getting a “service temporarily unavailable” message. Kingspan had no comment.
