Scents that make a house a home

Our sense of smell is one of the most powerful of the five. It can take us by surprise at times, how the slightest waft of a familiar or even forgotten scent will stir a memory or an emotion, as if from nowhere. Scents that make us feel at home — safe and reassured — are to be treasured, and can create a subtle extra layer in that olfactory experience.

Now, more than ever, of course, we are hanging around our homes, so what better time to recommend some fragrance boosts to your sense of domestic well-being? We have five scents today that are a little bit different, reminiscent of summer plants, summer seaside, warm summer skin and even sleepy summer nights. And we’ve tried to keep it Irish — home really is where the heart is.
