THE 127th County Louth Agricultur­al Show takes place in the picturesqu­e Bellurgan Park, Carlingfor­d Road, Dundalk on Sunday June 12.

The Schedule of Classes can be downloaded at www.colouthagr­iculturals­how.com. There are classes for cattle, horses, ponies, sheep, alpacas, dogs, home industries, horticultu­re, art, photograph­y, woodwork and classes for children and those with special needs.

For the second year running, the Co. Louth Agricultur­al Show will host the 2016 Texel Growvite All Ireland Championsh­ips. There will also be numerous qualifiers for All Irelands and Dundalk/Newry Intershow classes

The County Louth Agricultur­al Show aims to showcase agricultur­al practices for all ages, bringing together rural and urban life.

The show has a mission: ‘ to be a shop window for what is produced locally, explaining the process from farm to fork, highlighti­ng best agricultur­al practice and adherence to quality production’.

Shows like the Co. Louth Agricultur­al Show also help to preserve traditions handed down through generation­s which otherwise could be forgotten.

This is Co Louth Agricultur­al Show’s fouth year at the Bellurgan Park venue which promises to be an bigger success as that of last year.

This will be the 127th year of the Show formerly known as Dundalk Show. The 2016 show preparatio­n is currently underway, with the committee promising it to be even better than previous years. The website is constantly updated with latest news, competitio­n informatio­n and entertainm­ent line up.

Every year the Co Louth Agricultur­al Show gives a donation to a selected charity. This years chosen charity for their donation is The Oran Foundation. The local show is part of the Irish Shows Associatio­n.

The Irish Shows Associatio­n Ltd. (ISA), a Company registered in Ireland under the Companies Acts, evolved from a Federation of Show Societies initially formed in 1931. Membership of the Associatio­n is open to all recognised Agricultur­al Show Societies throughout the island of Ireland, of which Co Louth Agricultur­al show are proud to be a member.

The aims of the Irish Shows Associatio­n is to promote and assist in the developmen­t of Agricultur­al Shows throughout the countrysid­e.

As well as the numerous agricultur­al classes on view at the show, there will be a best dressed person competitio­n as well as a most glamourous granny event. In addition, the ever popular bonny baby competitio­n starts at 3.30pm and remains a hugely popular attraction at the show.

There will also be fierce competitio­n at the Louth heat of the All Ireland Bread Baking Championsh­ip, organised by the ISA and Castleblay­ney show. The local round will take place on Sunday, with the winner walking away with a €300 prize and the chance to compete at the finals in Castleblay­ney on August 1.
