THE 127th County Louth Agricultural Show takes place in the picturesque Bellurgan Park, Carlingford Road, Dundalk on Sunday June 12.
The Schedule of Classes can be downloaded at www.colouthagriculturalshow.com. There are classes for cattle, horses, ponies, sheep, alpacas, dogs, home industries, horticulture, art, photography, woodwork and classes for children and those with special needs.
For the second year running, the Co. Louth Agricultural Show will host the 2016 Texel Growvite All Ireland Championships. There will also be numerous qualifiers for All Irelands and Dundalk/Newry Intershow classes
The County Louth Agricultural Show aims to showcase agricultural practices for all ages, bringing together rural and urban life.
The show has a mission: ‘ to be a shop window for what is produced locally, explaining the process from farm to fork, highlighting best agricultural practice and adherence to quality production’.
Shows like the Co. Louth Agricultural Show also help to preserve traditions handed down through generations which otherwise could be forgotten.
This is Co Louth Agricultural Show’s fouth year at the Bellurgan Park venue which promises to be an bigger success as that of last year.
This will be the 127th year of the Show formerly known as Dundalk Show. The 2016 show preparation is currently underway, with the committee promising it to be even better than previous years. The website is constantly updated with latest news, competition information and entertainment line up.
Every year the Co Louth Agricultural Show gives a donation to a selected charity. This years chosen charity for their donation is The Oran Foundation. The local show is part of the Irish Shows Association.
The Irish Shows Association Ltd. (ISA), a Company registered in Ireland under the Companies Acts, evolved from a Federation of Show Societies initially formed in 1931. Membership of the Association is open to all recognised Agricultural Show Societies throughout the island of Ireland, of which Co Louth Agricultural show are proud to be a member.
The aims of the Irish Shows Association is to promote and assist in the development of Agricultural Shows throughout the countryside.
As well as the numerous agricultural classes on view at the show, there will be a best dressed person competition as well as a most glamourous granny event. In addition, the ever popular bonny baby competition starts at 3.30pm and remains a hugely popular attraction at the show.
There will also be fierce competition at the Louth heat of the All Ireland Bread Baking Championship, organised by the ISA and Castleblayney show. The local round will take place on Sunday, with the winner walking away with a €300 prize and the chance to compete at the finals in Castleblayney on August 1.
