‘More superb displays from guys in green

- The St Peter’s AC crew at the Blackrock Beach Races.

A busy long weekend for Glenmore athletes kicked off on Friday when a small but strong group travelled to the Blackrock Beach Races.

In the girls under-8 Roisin Daly finished a superb second with Sophie Cumiskey close behind in eighth.

In the boys equivalent, running for the first time for the club, Joe Rafferty finished third.

In the girls under-10 Emma Mc Carragher was seventh followed by Rosie Smartt, who was competing for the first time, and Aine O Reilly.

In the girls under 12, Lisa Conlon was fourth, Ava Brady fifth and Chloe McCarraghe­r seventh.

In the boys under 12 Finn Reilly and Cormac McCoy were seventh and eighth respective­ly.

In the boys Under 14 Daragh Brady was sixth and in the girls under 16 Katie Mallon and Maeve White were second and third respective­ly.

In the boys under 16 Niall Brady and Richard Campbell were also second and third.

In the girls under 18 Sinead Mac Erlane was fifth and Hannah Stewart was just behind in sixth.

On Sunday the area finals of the Louth Community Games took place at the Lourdes stadium with a great turnout by Peninsula athletes, with the following events competed in by the athletes and results achieved:

Roisin Daly under 8 60m 1st and Grace Keenan 2nd place followed by Gillian Tuohy; Luke Spain under 8 80m 2nd; Sarah Mallon and Saoirse Mc Bride under 10 competed in the 200m; Craig Tuohy under 10 100m 3rd place; James Spain under 10 200m; Under 12 Emily Tuohy and Caoimhe McBride 100m; Cillian Keenan under 12 100m; Lisa Conlon under 12 600m 3rd; Cormac McCoy under 12 600m; Nicole Barry under 14 long jump; Anna McArdle under 14 100m 1st; Enda O Neill shot putt under 14 2nd; Richard Campbell & Eoin Mc Cann under 16, 1st and 2nd place respective­ly; Katie Mallon under 16 1500m 1st place.

The club is putting in place the final arrangemen­t for the 10-mile challenge and 5k road and trail walk on Saturday next both starting at 11am at Mullaghbuo­y Community Centre.
