Heavy rain made playing conditions difficult for both sides but it was the Geraldines who got to grips with proceeding­s from the start with Rebecca Carr running through from midfield to open the scoring in the third minute.

The Geraldines continued to apply pressure on St. Patricks and were rewarded with two quick goals from Lorna Moriarty as they grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck.

The Pats were forced to work from deeper as the half progressed, scoring a single point in the thirty minutes, with the Geraldines continuous pressing making life difficult for them.

The Geraldines added a further three goals in the half with Roisin Soraghan, Meabh O’Hagan and Andrea Lennon all finishing off strong team efforts with points from O’Hagan, Soraghan, Moriarty, Lennon and Helen Ryan completing the scoring leaving the Geraldines leading 5-6 to 0-1 at half time.

The Geraldines started the second half as they had finished the first with a point from Lauren McFaul and then a second from distance by Rebecca Carr following a forty five in the eight minute of the half.

St. Patricks had come out fighting in the second half and took the game more to the Geraldines as the half progressed.

They scored a goal direct from a forty five by Kate Flood and finished the half convincing- ly, scoring a further goal and four points to a single score for the Geraldines.
