In recent years Erics’ partner Rebekah has been welcomed into the family and a source of great joy to Gaye was the arrival of her grandson Ryan 11 years ago and the close relationship between those two generations was a joy to see.

There are many words one could use to describe Gaye. She was fiercely loyal, warm, welcoming, caring, funny, feisty, loving and very brave. She had a dreadful sense of direction which many many laughs. She loved children and the simple things in life, a famly get-together, eating out, a walk with Peter along the sea front in Blackrock.

She had an amazing talent for quizzes, a great interest in public affairs, loved history and could recall historical dates without any problem.

She never forgot birthdays and special occasions and was generous to a fault. But the real joy in her life was her family. She adored being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister in law, aunt and was adored by her nieces and nephew. Her unexpected passing has left her family broken hearted and a loss that can never be filled.

Having reposed at her residence Gaye’s remains were taken to St Joseph’s Redemptorist Church where Requiem Mass was celebrated by her cousin, Very Rev. Gerald McCusker, Chorley, England who also gave the eulogy.

The Communion reflection was given by niece Maria Stapleton, who recalled what Gaye meant to her family. This was followed by a beautiful poem ‘If ’ written by cousin Verna Keogh in memory of Gaye.

The Readings were given by son, Eric Dolan and niece, Karl Doran while the Prayers of the Faithful were given by niece, Alicia Doran and nephew-in-law, Peter Stapleton.
