No friends of The Donald

-

The list of musicians angry at Donald Trump’s use of their songs for campaign purposes is growing. Here’s the tally so far: Queen (guitarist Brian May slammed Trump for using ‘We Are The Champions’ without permission) Everlast (not happy at Trump’s use of ‘Jump Around’, a 1992 House of Pain song featuring Everlast on vocals) The Rolling Stones (have asked Trump to ‘cease all use immediately’ of songs such as ‘Start Me Up’) Adele (told Trump he ‘has not been given permission’ to use ‘Rolling In The Deep’ as warm-up music at rallys) Neil Young (criticised Trump for using ‘Rockin’ In The Free World’ when the Republican launched his US presidential campaign). Elton John (has taken umbrage at Trump’s use of his 1972 hit Rocket Man. ‘Any use of his music should not be seen as an endorsement of Donald Trump by Elton,’ said a statement) Aerosmith (Steven Tyler and his legal team sent Trump a ceaseand-desist letter over his use of ‘Dream On’. Trump later tweeted, ‘Have better one to take its place!’) REM (Michael Stipe fumed over The Donald’s use of ‘It’s The End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)’ by his campaign team of ‘sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry little men’). Twisted Sister (singer Dee Snider originally gave ‘buddy’ Trump his blessing to use the band’s ‘We’re Not Going To Take It’ as the exit song on campaign stops, but has now changed his mind.

OK, that’s only nine, but it can only be a matter of time before someone else joins the list…
