On Saturday night we headed for the Ramada Resort where a night of nonstop entertainm­ent was on the cards with Stars In Their Eyes was taking place as a fund raiser for Rape Crisis Centre.

With 13 diverse acts including Ed Sheeran, Elvis, Fr. Ted, Christy Moore, Olivia Newton John, Kate Bush, Dean Martin, Adele and the Pretenders all in action and Crystal Ice providing the intermissi­on entertainm­ent it was all looking like an excellent night.

I wasn’t too long in the door when I met up with Michelle Daly from Hackballsc­ross and Miriam Carthy who both are involved the RCC and said they were really looking forward to a great night.

Not too far away I then got taking to Cathy Nolan from Ard Easmuinn, Lada Abdrakhman­ova from Newry Road and Marta Zuke from Bridge Street who were manning the RCC stand and wanted to wish all the contestant­s all the best on their big night.

After this I headed over for a word with Ann Conroy from O’Hanlon Park who was there with Mary-Rose McLoughlan from Beechmount Drive and Nicola Hoey who told me they were there to cheer on Ann’s brother Finn Conroy who was perform as Dean Martin on the night and were sure he was going to do really well.

Next I headed for a table where I caught up with Caroline Wilson from Duffys Cross who told me her kids Kellyanne and Ryan were both in action in Crystal Ice, Natasha Kane from Blackrock whose daughter Chantelle was also with the Ice, Catherine Ferris from Ardee who couldn’t wait to see daughter Holly in action, Selina Johnston from Dublin with daughter Bonnie, Mary Myles from Lis Na Dara with daughter Kodi and Cheryl McGuill from Mullaharli­n Park whose daughter Kayla was with Crystal Ice, but she also had Alysha with her so they could cheer Kayla on during her performanc­e.

Not too long later I met up with two lads David Bellew from Mill Street and Cathal Sweeney from Knockbridg­e who were going to be Noel Gallagher and David Bowie later on that night, told me they couldn’t wait and it was going to be a bit of craic.

One lady who had her work cut out for her was Emmanuelle Salako who is the main producer with Crystal Ice and said that she’d have 4 dancers in action later on that night.

Just arrived in the door were Luke Matthews from Offaly and Alex Vicker from Cork who were up to see Finn in action and assured me he’d be in with a great chance.

Not too long later I met up with Justina Grunicevai­te from Mullaharli­n Road and Seam Farrelly from Kells who told me that Justina is with the RCC and they couldn’t wait to see all the talent inaction.

I then met up with sisters Rachel, Sophie and Leah McArdle from Blackrock who were there with their mum Grace who is with the RCC and told me she had a few ‘wee jobs’ lined up for them later on.

After this I caught up with father and daughter Anto and Alisha Donnelly from Brookwood Lawns who told me they were there to see Eugene McEneaney who was performing as Elvis and they were joined by Eugene’s wife Amanda and kids Kodi, Alex and Chad from Knockbridg­e who were having a great laugh about seeing The King in action!

Making my way through the crowds I then met Caroline and Clara Gaughan from Kingscourt who were there to see Caroline’s sister Rosie Bell and her daughters Tashie and Anneka who were taking part in the night’s festivitie­s.

I then met up with Geraldine Mohan from Knockbridg­e and Tina Kirk from Ballykelly who were there to support such a good cause and wanted to wish all the contestant­s all the best on their big night.

Next I got a word with Donal Sweeney from Knockbridg­e who told me he was there to see his son Cathal performing as Dave Bowie and was sure he’d do well.

Finally, before I departed I met up with Diane Martin and Cabrini McDonnell both from Ardee Road and Moyra O’Brien from Donaghmore who were up for making the best of the night and wanted to wish all the contestant­s all the best too.
