Aura join Rotary bikes to Africa initiative

-

AURA Dundalk are supporting Dundalk Rotary Club in their campaign to send unwanted bicycles to Africa.

‘In the aftermath of National Bike week and in order to encourage our children to support children in Africa to both get to school and enjoy the fun and benefits a bicycle has to offer, Aura Dundalk have set up a drop off point to collect old and unused bicycles to send out to Africa,’ said Aura manager Josephine Pepper.

‘ The Rotary Club in Dundalk have initi- ated this very worthy project and Aura are getting behind them to help communicate and assist in the collection of these bicycles.’

‘So we are asking children who have good road worthy bicycles for age 6 year and older, that they no longer use – to send this bicycle to Africa so that a child can get to school.’

She explained that as many children live in townships miles away from their nearest school, having a bicycle can make all the difference in relation to them being able to actually access an education.

The drop off point is Aura Dundalk studio, and the centre will be accepting donations this Saturday, July 2nd between 12 noon and 3pm.

Aura have appealed to people who are considering donating a bicycle not to bring bicycles that are not fit for purpose.

‘We would really appreciate public support for this initiative,’ added Josephine. Anyone with any queries should contact Aura on 042 9336230
