Inaugural golf classic launched
LOUTH Ladies held the launch for their inaugural golf classic at Seapoint Golf Club last week.
Launching the fundraising drive which will supply new team gear, upgraded training equipment and cover travel expenses, Louth Ladies’ Senior manager Martin Connolly said that he hoped to repeat last year’s All-Ireland success in the intermediate grade this season.
Mayor of Drogheda, Cllr Oliver Tully said he admired the hunger of the Louth ladies and congratulated them on their high level of achievement and their fabulous success. Describing the team as ‘champions’ Deputy Fergus O’Dowd congratulated them on representing their county so successfully. Former Louth Mens’ manager, Deputy Peter Fitzpatrick, now manager of the Clann’s Ladies team, stressed the importance of looking good when representing the county.
Golfing co-ordinator Martina Nolan confirmed that already half of the tee slots are already filled. To book a team (€300), contact Martina on 085-1907441.
The event, sponsored by Donegan’s Monasterboice Inn, was attended by County Board chairman Des Halpenny, secretary Aidan Berrill, ladies committee members, current and former players who proudly displayed the West County Cup on the night.
