Aggressive to staff in shop and bank

-

A 33 year-old man has been further remanded in custody to 12 July next, after pleading guilty to a number of charges resulting from three separate incidents in Dundalk.

Peter Cumaskey, with an address given at Belleeks in Newry, but presently of no fixed abode, has been in custody for two months.

Solicitor Conor McGuill said his client is not in good health, and once following medical advice wouldn’t be coming to adverse attention. He works as a labourer when able to. Dundalk court heard that on 14 April last, Cumaskey went to his mother’s house in Doolargy Avenue, Muirhevnamor, where a protection order is in force.

She heard a noise at 4.30pm, and saw her son outside shouting. He left when she called the guards.

On 3 May, 2016, at the nearby Mace shop on Hoey’s Lane, there was a report of a disturbance.

When gardai arrived, they saw Cumaskey running away. He was chased and apprehended.

Two bags of cannabis herb were found on him, and he began roaring at the officers not to touch his weed.

Earlier, he had been roaring and shouting at staff and customers, and became aggressive.

The same day at the Ulster Bank in Dundalk, he attempted to withdraw money he didn’t have.

The defendant told staff he would come back and get their families.
