Judging time

-

Judging for the various environmental competitions is currently under way, and Blackrock Tidy Towns are hoping that the village continues to perform at the top levels in these competitions again this year.

The judges for the National Tidy Towns competition will have already visited the village, but may possibly return for a second judging in a few weeks. Louth County Council’s Litter League takes place during July and August, with the judges making three visits to the village over an eight-week period. Adjudications for the Louth Looking Good competition will take place during August, and judging for Beautiful Blackrock 2016 is currently under way.

“There is a lot of infrastructural work taking place in Blackrock at the moment, with fibre-optic broadband being installed, electricity networks being upgraded, and quite an amount of building under way,” explained Larry Magnier.

“The judges in the various competitions know that this will be to the benefit of Blackrock in the long run, but it does impact on the overall presentation of the village in the short term. However, it clearly shows what a vibrant place Blackrock is, and we hope that it won’t affect the marks awarded too much” he said.

“The huge amount of work undertaken by our volunteers, our Community Employment Scheme, and the individual businesses, residents and housing estates will, hopefully, shine through” he added. The results of the various competitions will be announced in the autumn.
