STEPHENSTOWN Pond Nature Park situated just outside Knockbridge (exit 16 off the M1) celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the opening of phase one of the project this month (July). During that time the award winning community led initiative has gone from strength to strength and now encompasses not only the idyllic five acre lakeside walkway amenity that is used 365 days a year by the general public, flora and fauna and wildlife habitats, family picnic areas, nature trail that promotes school and educational tours, a children’s playground, the “Dairy Maid Coffee Shop” with all home baking and is open seven days a week all year round from 9.30am to 5pm. Also included in the second phase of the development is a conference centre that seats 120 people, training rooms and enterprise offices that are available for rent/lease. The newest element of the enterprise is the highly successful “Spinning with Kelly” venture by local lady Kelly Mulholland who runs daily health and fitness classes.

The launch of The Faerie Village at Stephenstown Pond took place this week with the arrival of a new village of fairy families who moved in to the beautiful setting under the trees directly across from The Dairy Maid Coffee Shop. The new inhabitants designed and created their own homes with the help of local craft workers, Shane and Roddy McCollum. Each little house is unique. Also in the new village you will find a fairy or two wandering around the grounds if you are lucky when you visit or maybe sitting on the King’s Chair enjoying a picnic with the children sitting around on the fairy chairs and tables. The furniture is custom made. You too can have similar furniture for your garden as commissions are taken by the design team. Just contact Shane or Roddy at Stephenstown Pond 0429379019. Or view the Stephenstown Pond Facebook page to see all the fascinating family fun-filled activities as you watch the new video compiled by Ken Finegan (Newspics). You can plan your teddy bear’s picnic, children’s birthday parties or other family events including a complete wedding package at Stephenstown Pond by contacting the above phone number or visiting our Facebook page.
