- Marie Quigley died 2015 The late Marie Quigley

COMING up to the first anniversary of the passing of Marie Quigley (née Beagan), she is not only remembered as a successful business woman, who was well- known in the community; but as a lady who adored her family and someone who strived to put other people first and make them happy.

Marie began life in Anniallagh, Co. Monaghan and along with her four siblings; Patrick, Terry, Francis and Noreen, Marie watched their parents, Eileen & Patrick Snr Beagan, work hard and build successful businesses, which included a Ford car dealership.

Following a family move to the Newry Road in Dundalk, Marie went to St. Louis School and was one of the youngest in her year to graduate in 1964.

She inherited the Beagan work ethic and travelled to Philadelphia when she finished school to work at The Bell Telephone Company, where she enjoyed working and building new relationships, particularly with extended family there.

Her late father founded the successful custom clearance brokers, Beagans Ltd. The business grew rapidly and before long, Marie jumped on board to manage the Dundalk office. This was the start of a long and successful career. Along with her siblings, Terry and Francis, they built a brand and a business, but more importantly, a happy environment to work in.

While business was a huge part of Marie’s life, she always put her five children and 4 grandchildren first. She was a wonderful mother, sister, wife, grandmother and mother-inlaw, who strongly encouraged her children in their chosen careers and was very proud of their successes in aviation, music, photography & film.

Retirement was not on Marie’s radar, but she began to wind down work recently and took up a number of courses, including pottery and baking, which she excelled at.

She was a keen aviator too and was a member of the Dundalk Aero Club, originally set up by her late father Paddy Beagan back in the 60’s.

Extremely generous with her time, Marie loved to entertain in the family home, ‘San Aidene’ in Kilkerley. Friends of her children have described her as a gentle lady with an undeniable sense of fun. They fondly remember how she welcomed them with open arms and charmed them with stories of her ‘ big adventures’ to outof-town places. Her door was always open, whether it was for dinner, sleepovers or to offer her advice, help and support as they grew up.

Marie’s friends and family feel truly blessed to have known Marie and fortunate that she touched their lives in so many unique ways. Although she is hugely missed, Marie’s memory will live on forever through her children, grandchildren, siblings and friends.

They especially remember Marie’s birthday, which is around this time.

The anniversary mass for Marie and James Quigley will take place on Sunday 24th July at 11.00 am, Redemptorist Church, Dundalk.
