KATHLEEN Gaffey (née Reilly), Fatima Drive, Dundalk died peacefully in Waterford Regional Hospital on June 23rd surrounded by her family.

Aged 75, Kathleen was born in Kilkenny and moved at a young age to Athlone wh ere she met and married her late husband, John Joe Caffey in 1955.

Three years later in 1958 the couple settled in Dundalk where they reared their 18 children, all of whom are heartbroken by the loss of their mother as she was a fun loving and honest person who took great pride in her family and her home.

Kathleen loved organising family occasions which were a regular occurrence for she was the heart and soul of her family. While she is irreplaceable in the lives of her family, they are consoled by the many memories of their time together.

Kathleen is survived by her sons, Jimmy, John, Bernie, Eddie and Francie, daughters, Bridget, Margaret, Kathleen, Lily, Rose, Caroline, Theresa, Alice, Audrey, Helen, Linda, Sabrina and Susan, her 77 grandchildren, and 65 great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Having reposed at her home, Kathleen’s remains were taken to St. Nicholas Church where Requiem Mass was celebrated. The Readings and Prayers of the Faithful were led by family members.

After Mass burial took place in St. Joseph’s cemetery, Castletown where the large attendance reflected Kathleen’s strong family links with the area and the regard by which she was held.

Month’s Mind Mass will be held on Sunday, July 24th in St. Nicholas Church at 12.00 noon while the 5th anniversary Mass for Kathleen’s husband, John Joe will be held on July 16th at 6.00 p.m.
