Man charged after petrol bomb attack

21-YEAR-OLD DUNDALK MAN CHARGED IN RELATION TO ARSON INCIDENT AT DOOLARGY AVENUE HOUSE

- By ANNE CAMPBELL Dundalk Courthouse.

A 21-tear-old man from Dundalk is expected to appear in court this week charged in connection with a petrol bomb attack at a house in Doolargy Avenue, Muirhevnamor.

The man is charged with making a threat to kill, which, Gardai allege, arises out of an incident which happened at around 4.30am on Friday. A petrol bomb was thrown through the livingroom window of the house but the fire was out before Louth County Council Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene.

A window at the property was allegedly damaged and the front room was filled with smoke.

When they arrived, the homeowner was outside and was said to be deeply upset about the attack.

The suspect was arrested a short time later and brought to the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin where he was charged under section 5 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act and remanded in custody to appear at Dundalk District Court later this week.

Meanwhile, Gardai are investigating a number of unrelated offences which happened in the area over the past week, including an incident during a game of football where a 12-year-old boy produced a knife.

Gardai said the incident happened at Bay Estate on Thursday while the boy was playing football with a number of others. It is believed there was a disagreement between him and others and he left the area for a short time before re- turning with a knife. There was no injuries caused or threats made and Gardai said they are dealing with the youth.

And a 26-year-old man was found to have an offensive weapon which was produced during a dispute on the Castle- town Road on Monday afternoon. The incident happened at around 3pm on July 18 and the man was arrested. There were no injuries reported.

Dundalk Gardai arrested four people on suspicion of drink driving in the past week.
