Good Morning Louth branch out with new Ardee centre

THE Dundalk based ‘Good Morning Louth’ service are extending across the county with their first outreach office opened in Ardee last week.

The service which has been reaching out to people across the county for the last four years has decided to create another base in mid Louth.

Speaking at the opening, Anne Murphy, manager of Good Morning Louth said: ‘We are delighted to announce the opening of the first outreach office based in Ferdia House, Moorehall Lodge Retirement Village, Ardee.

‘We sincerely acknowledg­e the generosity of the Moorehall staff and management, for their support to this community based service.’

Good Morning Louth commenced in Seatown, Dundalk in 2012, developed by Pat Kerins and Ann Marron, Cúltaca for Older People, Netwell Centre, DKIT.

‘Since then the service has seen a steady growth in the number of calls made to older people, now reaching out to over 100 older people a day,’ explained Anne.

‘Calls are made by trained volunteers providing regular contact through a friendly phone call on days and at times that suit the person.’

The service remains free and confidenti­al for all who need to access it. ‘ The main aim of the service is to check on the wellbeing of the person, provide social interactio­n and make available quality informatio­n on a wide range of subjects on local services and service providers,’ said Anne.

She added that anyone who feels they would benefit from receiving a call from Good Morning Louth can arrange to be included in the service by contacting the Dundalk office on 042 93 30103.
