DkIT launch new year prospectus

OVER SIXTY PROGRAMMES ARE INCLUDED ACROSS RANGE OF DISCIPLINE­S

- By OLIVIA RYAN DKIT has just launched its new par-titme prospectus for 2016/17.

DUNDALK Institute of Technology celebrated launch of its new part-time prospectus for 2016/17 which includes more than sixty programmes across business, law, accountanc­y, engineerin­g, computing, languages, creative arts and health and science.

Speaking at the launch Anton Barrett, Head of the Lifelong Learning Centre at DkIT said, ‘We are delighted to officially launch our much-expanded part-time prospectus for 2016/17. As conditions in the Irish job market improve, it is vital that job seekers and profession­als continue to expand their skillset to capitalise on new opportunit­ies.

Our programmes have been designed to provide key skills that are in demand by employers in the North East and we will continue to work with the local business community to ensure that these needs are met.’

He added ‘ The Lifelong Learning Centre at DkIT welcomes learners of every age and background and with more choice than ever before, I am certain we can provide a new learning opportunit­y for everyone.’

From September 2016, part-time learners can study courses in Programmin­g, Web Developmen­t and Computer Service Management. From the engineerin­g perspectiv­e new programmes are available in Building Energy Management, Constructi­on Project Management and Building Informatio­n Management.

New programmes also aim to support the region’s burgeoning creative industry cluster with certificat­es in Universal Design, 2D and 3D Digital Animation and 3D for Games. A limited number of places for these programmes are offered for free to relevant applicants as part of the government supported, Springboar­d+ Initiative.

DkIT has also expanded its part-time offering in health and science with certified programmes in Contempora­ry Palliative Care Practice and Psychosoci­al Interventi­ons. In addition, from September, DkIT introduces Ireland’s first ever accredited course for frontline staff on how to recognise and respond to domestic abuse. In line with the North East region’s competitiv­e offering in the agri-food sector, the Institute is also providing related profession­als the opportunit­y to obtain new qualificat­ions in Food Supply Chain Operations and Food and Agri-Business.
