EIGHT M.A.D. youth theatre members have taken part in the national festival for youth theatre in Kilkenny,.

The annual event run by the national association for youth drama (NAYD) took place over six days and involved a residential programme of theatre skills workshops and a packed calendar of social activities.

With over 100 young people participating, M.A.D was delighted to be selected to attend for the third time in 5 years.

Feedback has been excellent. Anneke said: ‘It’s unreal to be honest! I have met lots of cool people that are just like me.’

Clodagh remarked, ‘ The week has been a blast. I’ve learnt so many new things and I’m glad that I got chosen to go.’

Georgia said: ‘I chose to do the Physical Theatre workshop. I have learned that I can’t just rely on myself, I have to rely on others which has helped me gain the trust of others.’

Founder and artisitic director of MADYT, Kwasie Boyce added, ‘I am very proud of our members, they are hardworking and eager to learn.

‘We are more than just the drama, we are about the development of the whole person.’

M.A.D. youth theatre members have had a very busy year, with workshops, collaborative work, devising new performance pieces, trips to Prague, theatre trips and festivals.

Still to come in 2016, IGNITE festival, Midsummers Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare and Louth youth theatre’s residential.
