THERE was plenty of fun and excitement in our Top Ace score competitio­n last week. All players put in tremendous performanc­es on the night and our congrats goes to Catriona Bagnall who defeated all contenders with a fine Top score of 9 aces to win the €20 voucher for Tuites Butchers well done everyone.

The club will begin 40x20 handball coaching for our juvenile boys and girls every Wednesday night at Gormanston College starting in September.

Our 60x30 training at Kingscourt handball club will resume on Monday 22nd August.

Players wishing to purchase 60x30 Softballs and Wall-Ball handballs can do so by contacting T Black please.

Don’t forget our five hour nonstop sponsored handball charity event in aid of ‘ A Smile for Ryan’ will take place on Saturday 20th August starting at 11am in Coke Community hall industrial estate. There will be some fun events on the day, including a Top Ace score contest with some great prizes, raffle, kiddies events, and refreshmen­ts served through the day. So come along and take part all proceeds will go directly towards Ryan’s brave battle with neuroblast­oma.

Our eagerly awaited team of four perpetual shield tournament will take place in September format, draws and teams will be posted shortly.

Juvenile coaching continues as usual every Friday 6.30pm to 7.30pm for boys and girls cost €2 each. Handballs and eyeguards are provided. For more info Contact Catriona on 0866592258.

Our Junior B team lost to Geraldines in Round 11 of the Division 4 League 2-9(15) top 3-7(16). The lads finished mid table in the Division were unlucky not to make the play offs as there were a number of games where only they only had the bare 15 available.

Naomh Fionnbarra/Lannleire U-13 team lost to St. Joseph’s 1-7(10) to 7-11(32) in the Division 3 League Round 4 on Thursday 4th August.

Naomh Fionnbarra/Lannleire U-18 team beat Naomh Martin 5-7(22) to 2-15(21) in the Division 3 League Round 8 on Friday 5th August.

Naomh Fionnbarra/Lannleire U-14 team beat Wolfe Tones 6-9(27) to 4-10(22) in the U-14 B Championsh­ip Round 1 on Saturday 6th August.

Our Intermedia­te team lost to St. Brides in the 11th Round of the Division 2 League on Saturday night 6th August in Knockbridg­e 2-13(19) to 1-4(7). As the team finished second last in the league they have to play in the relegation play offs against the team who finish 4th in Division 3. The lads also have to play the Championsh­ip Quarter Final against St. Josephs on Saturday 27th August at 7pm in The Grove, Castlebell­ingham.

The ladies team lost to Dreadnots 8-5(29) to 5-11(26) in the Intermedia­te Championsh­ip Round 1 on Sunday 7th August. The Ladies were unlucky after a great second half comeback in windy conditions in Clogherhea­d. It was a very exciting match with some solid performanc­es throughout, hard luck girls.

Naomh Fionnbarra is delighted to announce that the contract for constructi­on of the new training pitch has been awarded to Michael Rock and Sons with work expected to start next month. The club has proceeded with some upgrade works on the old pitch. This includes; laying of a walkway around the pitch with low level lighting, removal of the old pressbox tower, cleaning
