WE had a very good entry and steady scoring in last Thursday’s Open with visitors claiming all the vouchers and a significan­t haul in the twos. Results as follows: 1st Michelle Costello (Concra Wood) 35 pts, 2nd Vera Beaty (Clontarf) 34 pts, 3rd Barbara McCrory (Elm Green) 32 pts. Tows: Mary Colclough (Elm Green)

The highlight of the season the final round of Lady Captain Monica Mullen’s Prize took place on Saturday. Conditions were testing with tees well back, swirling wind and pace of play playing a major role. However, the winners emerged from the crop of the leaders with results as follows: 1st Rosemary Hanratty (78/73) 151 nett, 2nd Mary McGoey (76/79) 155 nett , Gross Emily McGuinness (90/93)183 gross, Cat A Sheila Berrills (76/79)155 nett, Cat B Marie Fegan (77/81) 158 nett, Cat C Josephine Malone (71/87) 158 nett, 1st day Siobhan McCartan 70 nett, 2nd day Ann Murphy 80 nett, Committee: Nora Gormley (81/82) 163 nett, 12-hole Invite: Orla Smyth 23 pts, Gents 12-hole: Mark McGrath 27 pts.

In her acceptance speech Rosemary regaled us all with her sense of humour and compliment­ed Lady Captain Monica on her choice of prizes. The music began the dancing started and another great Lady Captain’s night in Greenore ensued.

Regular Open Stableford continues on Thursday 11th August with alternate day play available for lady members.

Saturday 13th will be a three-category stableford.

Thursday 25th August. First tee at 12:30pm. Golf and Meal €40. List for names posted in locker room. Hon Treasurer Jane would appreciate having list completed by 20th August.
