All Ireland winner Damien Mullane joins Zoe and John
ZOE Conroy and John McIntyre will be joined by Damien Mullane for their afternoon concert in the Heritage Centre, Carlingford, this Sunday at 4pm.
They previously collaborated with the Cork born musician on his debut album ‘13’. Brought up in London to Irish parents, Damien was very active in the traditional music scene there, and has won numerous All-Ireland titles on both accordion and melodeon. He began his professional career as the accor- dionist in the legendary Frankie Gavin’s band De Dannan.
‘Playing Irish traditional music is what I love to do and the real joy comes from the spontaneous musical energy created between a group of performers – particularly when there is a musical respect between all,’ he says,
Since then Damien has toured extensively, performing as far afield as China, Japan,
Australia, New Zealand, India and the U.S in some of the worlds most prestigious venues including Slane Castle, The Electric Picnic and Glastonbury. He has performed for numerous high profile figures including US current President Barack Obama end ex President Bill Clinton, Prince
Albert of Monaco and former Irish president Mary Robinson.
He is also a member of the Young Irelanders and Project West with some of the country’s rising traditional performers.
