Climate change focus at All Ireland summer school
THE All-Ireland Humanist Summer School collaboration will be held this year from August 26th - 28th in Carlingford.
The title of the conference is ‘ Humanism and the Global Climate Crisis.’
Confirming the line-up of speakers today, HAI/Humani spokesperson, Áine Crawley said,
‘We are delighted to announce our speakers, who are experts in their field, to discuss the very important topic of how ‘climate chaos is a real description of our future.
With increased conflicts over diminishing resources, more frequent humanitarian disasters and mass migrations of refugees from areas where food crops no longer grow, we recognise that this crisis is unlikely to stop just at climate’
Speakers at this year’s summer school, entitled ‘Humanism and the Global Climate Crisis,’ include: Caitríona Ruane, MLA for South Down, Kate Ruddock, Friends of the Earth, Duncan Stewart, Environmentalist and Broadcaster, Eamon McCann, MLA for Foyle, Author and Journalist, John Barry, Professor of Green Political Economy at Queen’s University Belfast, Síle Headen, scientist, entrepreneur and community activist.
This will be the 14th All-Ireland Humanist summer school to be held jointly at the Carlingford Heritage Centre.
