OUR five-hour non-stop handball marathon event in aid of ‘A Smile for Ryan’ took place last Saturday at Coke Community Hall. The atmosphere created by everyone coming and going throughout the whole day to support this worthy event was absolutely incredible.

There were also some very well organised fun events during the day - raffle, Top Ace score competitio­n, face-painting and games for all the youngsters.

The club would like to thank everyone for a very successful and fabulous day and for absolutely tremendous appreciati­on shown to all our players at the end of the marathon.

We would also like to thank all our sponsors for the day’s events - Dunnes Stores West Street, Gerrys Fresh Foods Bryanstown, Avenue Hair Salon Peters Street, Grove Pharmacy Ballsgrove, Karissa Heeney confection­ery, Keelings Fruits St Margarets Dublin, Rosslyn Cowley Face-Painting.

A big thank-you to Catriona Bagnall, Deborah Mullan and Rosemary Kelly for the wonderful refreshmen­ts served throughout the day and for their valuable multi-tasking skills - well done the ladies. Thanks also to Tony Black for kindly donating fruit drinks for all the youngsters on the day.

There were some superb prizes for the day’s raffle and the lucky winners on the day were as follows. First prize, a marvellous cake baked in the Millmount club colours, was won by Shane Byrne, second prize of a chemist voucher went to Gillian Curran and the third prize - a hair voucher - was won by Declan Carter. Fourth prize, beauty products, went to Colm Keenan, Rosemary Kelly won the fifth prize which was wine, and sixth prizes - a confection­ery voucher and wine - went to Mary Smith and Alan Kelly respective­ly.

All the proceeds from this well-organised sponsored event will go to Ryan’s brave battle with neuroblast­oma.

There will be a very important committee meeting this Friday night at Coke Hall at 7.30pm and all players, members and supporters are requested to attend.
